Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Powerberries

I’m not the biggest dark chocolate fan … but something about the Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Powerberries was intriguing to me. I decided to purchase them while they were one of the products of the week that was being displayed near the checkout. As it normally goes … it’s the things you’re unsure about that turn out to be the most delicious.

The bag describes the treat as “real fruit juice pieces made with acai, pomegranate, cranberry and blueberry juices and dipped in smooth dark chocolate.” It also states the powerberries are an “excellent source of vitamin c, made with dark chocolate, a natural source o flavanol antioxidants.” The insides of the berries are flavorful … sweet, tart and chewy while the dark chocolate calms the flavor categories down and makes it all come together. Utterly fabulous if I put it lightly.

The closest thing I can compare the powerberries to would be chocolate covered raisins, but so much better. They curb the sweet and chewy craving with a slam dunk. They are utterly delicious and a serving – or even a couple is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. Too many can certainly become overwhelming.

A serving is ¼ cup (40g) which is 180 calories or 5 points plus values.
