Wheat Thins Popped Sour Cream & Onion

While shopping I did a double take because initially I thought Wheat Thins had been repackaged.  Since curiosity got the best of me, I headed over to the display and was intrigued, so I picked up a bag of Wheat Thins Popped Sour Cream & Onion. I’m a big fan of Wheat Thins in general so I couldn’t wait to give these a try.

Unfortunately, they didn’t live up to expectations. The chips themselves are truly reminiscent of Pop Chips. They taste nothing like Wheat Thins (which have that classic smooth wheat taste) and taste just like a popped snack chip.  They’re flavored quite well where the entire chip is covered in a sour cream & onion coating. They’re not bad but they’re nothing that a person would expect them to be – particularly by having the Wheat Thins name on the item.  If you like Pop Chips, or any brand of popped chips, then you’d like these.

A serving is 26 chips (30g) and is 120 calories or 3 points plus values.

Honey Mustard Wheat Thins

Honey mustard snacks have been an item I’ve enjoyed for a very long time.  Needless to say when I spotted Honey Mustard Wheat Thins I had to pick up a box.  I love Wheat Thins whether as a snack on their own, with hummus or with cheese and crackers.  I will admit, I am guilty of finding a flavor I like and buying that one over and over again.  Needless to say my absolute favorite Wheat Thins are the Sundried Tomato & Basil flavor.

Although, I am pretty positive the Honey Mustard flavor is creeping up into that absolute favorite flavor category.  The flavor is exactly as described … mildly sweet honey mustard.  These do remind me of honey mustard and onion pretzels (which are completely a guilty pleasure) just sans the onion taste.  Completely a different flavor for Wheat Thins but it flows together so nicely they are totally enjoyable.

A serving size, 15 crackers, is 4 points plus values.  It may be a little high to some but I feel these are more bang for my “buck” when in comparison to the pretzels I love.

QUESTION:
What is your favorite Wheat Thins flavor?
