Honey Mustard Wheat Thins

Honey mustard snacks have been an item I’ve enjoyed for a very long time.  Needless to say when I spotted Honey Mustard Wheat Thins I had to pick up a box.  I love Wheat Thins whether as a snack on their own, with hummus or with cheese and crackers.  I will admit, I am guilty of finding a flavor I like and buying that one over and over again.  Needless to say my absolute favorite Wheat Thins are the Sundried Tomato & Basil flavor.

Although, I am pretty positive the Honey Mustard flavor is creeping up into that absolute favorite flavor category.  The flavor is exactly as described … mildly sweet honey mustard.  These do remind me of honey mustard and onion pretzels (which are completely a guilty pleasure) just sans the onion taste.  Completely a different flavor for Wheat Thins but it flows together so nicely they are totally enjoyable.

A serving size, 15 crackers, is 4 points plus values.  It may be a little high to some but I feel these are more bang for my “buck” when in comparison to the pretzels I love.

What is your favorite Wheat Thins flavor?

My new favorite snack of the moment: Ritz Everything Crackers & Chive Cottage Cheese

This has been my new “go-to” snack as of late and I am absolutely LOVING the combination!  I’ve always been a fan of chive cottage cheese (thanks to my mother) and I’ve grown up eating it with Ritz crackers.  When I spotted Ritz had come out with an “Everything” cracker I initially hesitated to purchase them.  Everything bagels used to be my weakness back in the hay-day and Ritz crackers can sometimes allow me to go overboard at times (when I mindlessly eat them with something).

The combination of the everything cracker with the chive cottage cheese is just out of this world delicious. The crackers are lightly seasoned to taste just like the bagel.  There is the definite taste of onion, poppy seed, garlic and sea salt – but the flavors themselves are not overwhelming.  The crackers are just perfectly seasoned.  A serving is 5 crackers for 2 points plus – which is absolutely not bad at all.

Chive cottage cheese has always been my favorite cottage cheese.  I’ve tried the fruit cottage cheeses and I’ve tried the plain but nothing has ever “sunk” me such as the chive variety.  There is a low fat variety available, but typically has onion in it and it tastes different – just not the same.  The greatest part is that for ½ cup serving it’s only 3 points plus and ½ cup of cottage cheese is VERY filling.

A delicious and filling 5 point plus snack? I’ll take that any day of the week!

QUESTION:
Have you tried the new Ritz Everything crackers and/or chive cottage cheese?

Quaker Popped Sweet & Salty Rice Snacks

While at Walmart I picked up a bag of these Quaker Popped Sweet and Salty Rice Cakes – which have a mixture of caramel corn and cheddar rice cake snacks in them.  I was surprised that I really quite enjoyed these.  At first it was a little odd – but it was really quite yummy.  Its two classic Quaker Rice Cake flavors mixed together to create a unique experience for your taste buds.  The cheddar crisps are the staple rice cake in a mild cheddar flavoring whereas the caramel corn is a classic rice cake encased in a sweet caramel casing.

There are 14 crisps in a serving which isn’t bad and would be a lot easier to only eat the 14 if you proportioned your snack ahead of time.  I’m not the biggest fan of cheddar snacks, but these were palatable.  One thing I would really love to see from Quaker would be a caramel corn and chocolate mixture – now THAT would be right up my alley!

A serving of these is 3 points plus for the 14 crackers.

QUESTION:
Have you tried any Quaker rice cake snacks? If so, what’s your favorite flavor?
